Matt began his work at Eastside in June of 2015. He is married to the former DeAnna Moran and together they have a daughter, Adelynn, who was born in July of 2013 and a son, Silas, who was born May 2017. Matt received his Bachelors degree in Business Management from Western Kentucky University in 2007, after which he began a career in manufacturing that lasted for the next four years. In the winter of 2011, he left manufacturing for full-time ministry with the Horton Chapel Church of Christ in Muhlenberg County, KY. Throughout his ministry, Matt has been published in various papers and journals of the churches of Christ, including the Gospel Advocate. He has spoken at various congregations and venues, both locally and abroad. In December 2013 he completed his Masters degree in Christian Apologetics from Luther Rice University and Seminary. He is currently pursuing the Master of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. In his spare time, Matt loves to read theology, drink coffee, and shoot handguns.
Josh grew up in the Indianapolis Area and is a born and bred Hoosier. He loves all things Indiana (except Purdue). Josh attended Cincinnati Christian University where he studied Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry. He has a passion and burning desire to see Students come to know the Lord. Josh has spent time serving with congregations in Carmel, IN and Cass City, MI before landing in Terre Haute. Phil was born and raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He became a Christian his freshman year. After receiving his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University, he attended Princeton University where he received his Ph.D. Phil is a professor of mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he has worked for 28 years – 24 as a professor with a stint of 4 years as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Phil has been married to Rachel (by far his better half) for 30 years, and they have two sons, Wesley (24) and Stephen (19). Phil has taught numerous classes and small groups at Eastside including the “Young Marrieds” (which turned into the “Homebuilders”) and the College class.
Frank was born in Huntington, Long Island in 1961. After high school, Frank enlisted and served 3.5 years in the army. In 1985, he came to Terre Haute and attended college at Ivy Tech Community College. He was introduced to the gospel and was baptized in the mid 1980's at Eastside Church of Christ. He and his wife started the Shine Time ministry in the early 1990's and have led this ever since. In addition, Frank has served as a deacon for several years. He and his wife are both involved in the jail/prison ministry.
Born and raised in Terre Haute, Tom was child number 4 of 6 children in his family. They attended Eastside until he was 8, then his father started preaching at another congregation in town. He put on Christ in baptism when he was 11. He met his wife, Kelly, in their youth group and started dating during Senior Week at Camp Wabashi. They were married in 1985. Upon graduation from college they moved to Indianapolis for 10 years, before the company he worked for moved them back to Terre Haute in 1995. They have been members at Eastside since. Tom served as Deacon of Education prior to becoming an Elder in 2010. They have three children: Drew, Bryce and Sydney, all of whom live in Terre Haute and are members of Eastside. Tom likes to do puzzles and to watch football and basketball, and loves to golf, fish and serve the Lord.
Eric was born and raised in Terre Haute, and was baptized at the age of 12. His father Bob also served as a deacon at Eastside. Eric met his wife Nola, who was from Los Angeles, California, during a week of camp at Camp Wabashi. They began dating in 1980, and married in 1982. They have two sons, Adam and Evan. Eric likes to watch racing and basketball, and he enjoys teaching the middle school students at Eastside a quarter or two a year.
Gordy was born in Terre Haute and his wife Polly in Indianapolis. Gordy came to faith and was baptized in 1984 in Brownsburg, Indiana. Polly was raised in the Church of Christ. They met through mutual friends while attending Indiana State University and were married at Eastside in 1985. They have been members at Eastside since 1990. Gordy said, “Eastside was an immediate fit with many wonderful and caring members—we are extremely happy at Eastside.” They have two sons, Taylor and Riley. Gordy’s hobbies include golf, reading, ISU basketball and traveling. Polly enjoys baking, reading, taking care of her family and traveling.
Wayne and Tomi Padgett have been at Eastside for over twenty years. Both grew up and became Christians in Alabama. They came to Terre Haute when Wayne began teaching Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. They homeschool their two teenage children. Wayne is a deacon with responsibility for missions. He has organized one engineering mission trip to Panama and hopes to return. He also helps manage our Youth Protection Policy. Wayne enjoys camping and old science fiction movies.
Ed and his wife Sandy were both born and raised in Logansport, Indiana. Ed was baptized at the age of 18 and Sandy at 11. They met at the Yorktown Road Church of Christ and were married in 1970. Ed was drafted into the Army and is a Vietnam veteran. Upon his return, they moved to Fort Stewart, Georgia for a year, before returning to Logansport. They took jobs in Terre Haute in 1988. They visited around the other churches before becoming members at Eastside in 1991. They have two grown sons, Jeremy and Jason, and 3 grandchildren. Ed’s hobbies include all sports.
