Our church DNA is captured in the formula WRP4, which points to the basic spiritual needs of Worship, Reading Scripture, and Praying, and the duty of disciples of Jesus to Invite, Disciple, Serve, and Contribute. These are the practices that we are convinced will produce a completely committed followers of Jesus.
Our acts of worship, reading, and praying keep us in connection with God and God's people. This is how we draw near to God, hear God's voice, and speak back to God. This is the essence of spiritual life. If these three elements are missing from your weekly and daily habits, your walk with God is destined to be unfulfilling, dry, and weak. Relationships take work, and this includes your relationship with God. The channels of worship, reading, and prayer are the gracious gifts God has provided to his people to foster and grow this relationship.
So, my challenge to you this month is to seriously ask yourself these questions: (1) Am I worshiping with passion, conviction, and expectation? (2) Am I regularly listening for God's voice in His word? (3) Am I regularly and expectantly talking to God in prayer?
