On Wednesdays at Eastside, we have a mid-week gathering for spiritual nourishment and fellowship. However, I'm aware that many of you cannot make it due to life obligations or to simply rest and keep your schedule open. Regardless, I want to use this back space for the next several weeks to note some of the things that we think through and teach about in the main adult class. Currently, we're getting more acquainted with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has long been a questionable figure for Christians, especially for those of us in the churches of Christ. We've taught a variety of things about the Spirit, some of which have been well-intentioned mistake and some that have been outright heresy!
So,we'retryingtoknowtheSpiritmoreonWednesdaynightsinordertoknowGodbetter. Thegroundwe'recovering looks like this: the Spirit as the Giver of Life, the Spirit as a Divine Person, the Spirit in the OT, the Spirit in the NT, and the Spirit and the Christian. In this class, we're not interested in preserving a tradition or in following a trend. We want to see the Spirit on the pages of Scripture as He has chosen to reveal Himself so that we can keep in step with the Spirit as He directs our life. If this sounds like something you're interested in, I encourage you to make the class on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
