WRP4 is the formula we've adopted at Eastside to capture what it is that we feel produces completely committed followers of Jesus. These are practices that we find consistently followed in the New Testament amongst Jesus' earliest disciples, and we feel that these practices should be replicated in our lives today to produce a healthy and robust spiritual life.
We've already focused on the WRP: Worship, Reading Scripture, and Prayer. We've already focused on Inviting people into a saving relationship with Jesus. And, we've already focused on Discipling other Christians and putting ourselves in discipling situations. For August, let's focus on Serving.
Jesus' model for ministry was service to others and elevating the condition of his fellow men. At Eastside, this should be our priority, also. Jesus left a trail of restoration, renewal, and life wherever he went. At Eastside, we should leave similar trails. Consequently, we offer several ways to be a Serving Christian. We hold four annual outreach events that require extensive volunteer staffing. We have a Visitation Team headed by Carol Goff (see her to volunteer!!); Ignite Student ministry that regularly needs volunteer support (see Josh M!!); individual member needs that require loving attention (see an Elder!!); a prayer ministry (see me or Glenda Jones!!); a safety ministry (see Andrew Woodason!!); a special needs ministry (see Tracy Goff!!); an after church lunch ministry (see Janie Creedon!!); KidsHope USA (see Rachel Cornwell), and a freshly minted Community Care team that will get us into our community even more (see me!!). And there are probably some I'm missing 😊. So, ask yourself: Am I Serving? Where can I get involved at Eastside? (Hint: if we don't have a ministry for it, start it!!).
